Our dynamic outreach ministry has continued to be the nucleus to our ministry. We stand on giving back to the community in which we reside. With our partnership with Transformation Life Center Detroit we help rehabilitate and transform families and the community in the areas of health, education, and financial empowerment all while rebuilding the community around us. Creating a positive environment that provides families resources to help them thrive in the communities around them.

About Pastor and Lady Belk:
Pastoral Journey:
Pastor Frederick Belk stepped out in faith and obedience to accept the call to pastor Mount Charity Missionary Baptist Church on August 23, 2014. Since then, he has passionately pursued the lost, aiming for them to receive Christ, experience a life filled with love, and realize the daily opportunity for transformation through God's Word.
Personal Life and Ministry:
Married for 28 years, with three beautiful children, Pastor Belk and Lady Talisha Belk share a deep commitment to seeking out the lost, overlooked, and unchurched. This dedication has fostered a successful ministry with a high percentage of members from the local neighborhood. Under Pastor Belk's leadership, Mount Charity has experienced a 100% increase in membership, a significant neighborhood presence, and expanded community service.
Authors Pastor and Lady Belk were motivated to publish “Routine Maintenance, Beyond the Vows” because they were passionate about assisting married couples. The book is available on Amazon.
Philosophy of Love:
Inspired by the scripture "Love Never Fails" (1 Corinthians 13:8), Pastor Belk has themed Mount Charity as the "Mountain of Love." He aims for every person entering the church to experience Christ's love, emphasizing a welcoming atmosphere with a "No Judgement Zone" sign at the sanctuary entrance. The church offers unique and dynamic spiritual experiences every Sunday.
Community Involvement:
Pastor Belk has led Mount Charity in numerous community initiatives, including:
- Feeding the homeless
- Ministering to prisoners at Wayne County Jail and Elliot Detention Centers
- Raising awareness about gun violence with City Council members
- Street Evangelism, ministering to the community with Detroit City Council President (Occupy the Corner)
- Partnering with six different denominational churches to provide school supplies
- Adopting Durfee, a neighborhood school, providing over a hundred school uniforms and supplies
- Hosting an annual Community Day, giving away tablets, bikes, clothes, and more
- Establishing Men's, Women's, and Marriage ministries
- Provided Seminars for financial literacy and management
- Partnered with Karmanos Cancer Institution’s Faith Community Research Network
- Partnered with the Detroit Police 10th Precinct’s Faith in Blue initiative
- Allows the neighboring block clubs to meet within the church to foster a safer community
Mentorship and Partnership:
Pastor Belk was mentored for over ten years by Reverend Curtis R. Grant Jr. of Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church, who highly recommends him for leadership and ministry. Lady Talisha Belk, a Licensed and Ordained Minister, works alongside Pastor Belk in their mission to save lives and improve Detroit's streets. Their motto is "One Soul at a Time."
Educational Accomplishments:
Pastor Belk was licensed as a Minister in 2010 and ordained as a Reverend in 2014. Pastor Belk recently obtained his Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministries from Ecumenical Theological Seminary of Detroit, Michigan, in 2023.
Vision for the Future:
Pastor Belk is committed to using the power of God's Word to change people's lives in the Detroit area. The church is actively looking for collaborations to help revitalize its neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan's District 5. The congregation is dedicated to Pastor Belk's vision, which is in line with Habakkuk 2:2: "Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it."
